Royal Welsh Show 2026

Date – 20th - 23rd July

Judge: Mr Graham Jones

The Royal Welsh Show once again showcased an outstanding standard of cattle, with exhibitors from across the country presenting exceptional stock in a highly competitive lineup. Judge Mr Graham Jones of the Mabon herd had the challenging task of selecting winners from strong classes throughout the day, with quality and depth evident across both the male and female sections.

The bull classes opened with Fronfedw Ule from Rhydian Davies taking the senior bull class, before Thor Atkinson’s Newland Valentino claimed the 2024-born bull class. The youngest bull class was won by Lowercroft Axel exhibited by Philip Marsden, who continued his successful day by securing the Junior Championship.

In the cow/heifer section, Sam Marsden’s Lowercroft Rhubarb headed the cow classes, while Newland Tanza from Thor Atkinson impressed to win the younger cow class. Timothy Owen’s Bickley Upside-Down Cake topped the in-calf heifer class before a particularly strong 2024-born heifer class was won by Fronfedw Voelallt from Rhydian Davies. Penwen Andrea, exhibited by Molly Hickin, led the maiden heifer class.

Thor Atkinson enjoyed further success in the group competitions, winning both the Group of Three and Best Pair classes.

The championships rounded off an excellent day of judging, with Newland Valentino from Thor Atkinson taking the Male Championship ahead of Lowercroft Axel from Philip Marsden as Reserve Male Champion.

In the female section, Fronfedw Voelallt from Rhydian Davies was tapped out as Female Champion, with Newland Tanza from Thor Atkinson taking the Reserve Female Championship.

The Junior Championship went to Lowercroft Axel (Philip Marsden), while Penwen Andrea (Molly Hickin) stood Reserve Junior Champion.

The day’s highest honour, the Overall Championship, was awarded to Fronfedw Voelallt exhibited by Rhydian Davies, with Newland Valentino from Thor Atkinson named Overall Reserve Champion—bringing the curtain down on another memorable Royal Welsh Show for the breed.
