It’s a Royal affair at Bath and West, as Doncombe Madhu takes top honours
The British Blonde breed was back with a vengeance this week at the Royal Bath and West Show after breed classes were reinstated at the show.
Doncombe Madhu, from David and Sue Knight was selected as the British Blonde Champion earlier in the day by Judge Willie McElroy Dromara, before going on to take Exhibitor-bred Beef Interbreed Champion, Continental Beef Interbreed Champion and then the Overall Interbreed Show Champion of Champions, judged by Judge Iain Green from Morayshire.
The January 2016 born heifer is sired by French bull Aramis and is currently in calf to, Doncombe Mulungu who took the Reserve Breed Championship earlier in the day. Interbreed Judge Iain Green commented that Madhu had tremendous length, a good shoulder and great locomotion, ‘’ She’s an outstanding example of the breed and just had a bit more power than the reserve interbreed champion’’.
Junior Class winner Exmoor Nara, from Abbie Westcott continued her success In the Junior Interbreed section where she fought off tough competition to be awarded the Junior Continental Interbreed Beef Heifer Championship, before going on to take Reserve Overall Junior Interbreed Champion. Nara born in April 2017, is sired by Doncombe Legatissimo.
Blonde Judge Willie McElroy, Society Chairman, commented ‘’it’s great to have classes for the Blondes, back at The Royal Bath and West show. This week’s results just goes to show, the Blonde breed, are a force to be reckoned with. The quality of Stock on show was exceptional and a real credit to all those involved.
