Doncombe Madhu up in lights at National Blonde show

An excellent weekend was had at the Royal Three Counties show where the Blondes held our 9th National show. A truly remarkable turn out of cattle, with the results we have for so long waited for.

Doncombe Madhu claimed all the ribbons at the National show 2018. Madhu bred by David and Sue Knight from Bristol shone as she entered the Blonde ring in front of judge Richard Bartell, who said she simply owned the ring as soon as she stepped into it.

Madhu sired by French bull Aramis born January ’16 didn’t fail to turn heads; having picked up numerous trophies including the Farm Mark perpetual challenge trophy for the champion Blonde as well as the National Show trophy presented by the McElroy family for the National show breed champion this senior heifer then went onto win the Interbreed champion and the Champion of Champions awards across the entire show.

Reserve breed champion went to intermediate bull Doncombe Mulungu born April’16 sired by Rodleigh Voyageur again from David and Sue Knight; who had also lifted the male champion Farmers Weekly award.

Senior cow Bridge Gina, exhibited by Charles Mycock from Derbyshire born May’11 and sired by Bridge Draco not only took the Avoncroft trophy but also the interbreed cow and calf championship.

Junior Blonde champion was awarded to maiden heifer Whistley Newgold; bred by Stephen Potter from West Harptree, Bristol born March’17 and sired by Hallfield Jensen. Newgold picked up numerous accolades including the Rex Diffey trophy for junior champion as well as the FIERBA Trophy for the best female less than twenty four months.

Doncombe Hervelius born April’12 sired by Druk Thor, once again from David and Sue Knight lifted the Lambert Fenchurch trophy for the senior bull.

Junior bull Samoht Navojo born March’17 sired by 2017 National show champion Idefix lifted the Bradnock perpetual challenge trophy.

Junior cow Doncombe Indika sired by Rodleigh Voyageur and born January’13 took the Badham Perpetual trophy.

Calved heifer Doncombe Lily Rose exhibited by Abbie Westcott born January ’15; once again a Voyageur daughter, lifted the Meatgold trophy for the calved heifer born between January and December ’15.

Meadow Nefetti bred and exhibited by Linda Sewell from Cambridgeshire; sired by Thornbury Gerrard lifted the Midland Blonde club trophy for the maiden heifer class born between May and December ’17.

The South Wales club cup for the calf under eight months old on the day of the show was awarded to Samoht Orchid bred and exhibited by Paul Thomas from Berkshire, sired by French bull Faust.

The Farmers weekly perpetual challenge trophy for the best pair of animals from one exhibitor went to the Doncombe team with stablemates Mulungu and Madhu who later represented the breed in the interbreed competition taking the reserve continental interbreed title.
