Dungannon Spring Sale 2025

At the British Blonde Cattle Society Spring sale at Dungannon Farmers’ Mart, a record price of 4,700gns was achieved for Moneyscalp Ultimate, the pre-sale Champion exhibited by Gerard and Gary McClelland. Silverwood Ulyses was named Reserve Champion. The event appreciated its sponsors, judge, and all participants in the sale.

Tangier Farm, established in 2018 by Steven Gregory and his twin daughters Emma and Lucy, operates on 500 acres, focusing on pedigree British Blonde cattle. With around 400 commercial beef cattle, a small farm shop, and a contracting business, the Gregorys emphasize both commercial success and herd quality, aspiring for future growth and significant involvement in regional activities.

Stars of the Future 2024

The 14th edition of Stars of the Future took place on November 8-9, 2024, at United Auctions, Stirling. The event featured a young handler competition judged by Jason Wareham and a livestock contest with 379 calves. Alistair Cormack judged the ‘Any Other Breeds’ section, awarding Hutton Veda ll as the junior champion.

Four Breed Calf Show 2024

At the 4th annual Four Breed Calf Show 2024 in Ballymena, judge John Barry Moran awarded Ballygowan Victoria as Junior Champion and Moneyscalp Vodka as Senior Champion. The competition highlighted strong cattle, including Ballygowan Ursula and Silverwood Vita, showcasing the quality of British Blonde cattle and sponsor support from BVC Farm Vets.

Royal Ulster Premier Beef and Lamb Championship 2024

On 26th November 2024, the McCrea family from Strabane won the British Blonde champion carcase at the Royal Ulster Premier Beef and Lamb Championship. Purchased by Foyle Food Group for J Magill & Sons, butcher Steven Magill expressed delight in the award-winning beef, which is expected to meet customer demand for New Year’s Eve.

Swatragh Sale 2024

The Autumn Sale at Swatragh Livestock Market on 25th October 2024 showcased exceptional female cattle, led by Silverwood Livestock Teri which sold for 2,400gns. Moneyscalp Ulrika followed at 2,000gns. The NI Blonde Cattle Club acknowledged sponsors, judges, and all contributors for a successful event, wishing buyers the best with their new stock.

Great Yorkshire Show 2024

During the July competition, Sean Mitchell won the Supreme Breed Championship with his heifer Hutton Thea, also earning the Female Championship. Thor Atkinson’s Hallfield Plato secured the Reserve Supreme Championship and Male Championship. Other awards included Junior and Female Champions from George Raper and Thor Atkinson respectively, highlighting several notable breeding results.

Penwen Toppsy goes one step further this year and secures the breed Championship ticket. The homebred heifer, shown by Jonathan Hickin and family, won her class last year and went all the way this time roundclaiming the overall female championship prize also to her credit. She is sired by the imported bull Hashtag and bred out of Penwen Poppy Moo.
